We warmly thank you for visiting the website of our Holy Metropolis and with joy and honor we welcome you. We give thanks to God, for among His countless benefactions He has granted us this means of communication as well. By presenting our Metropolis on these electronic pages, we glorify Him who grants breath, life, and all things, and who accomplishes great and wondrous works through His humble servants. Our local Church under the title “HOLY METROPOLIS OF CHALKIS” is adorned with abundant natural and spiritual beauties, Holy Churches, Sacred Pilgrimage sites, Holy Relics — among which the incorrupt relic of Saint John the Russian — historic Monasteries, charitable Institutions, and devout and God-loving inhabitants. Writing these lines beside the ancient and historic Holy Church of our Patron Saint Paraskevi and the deep-blue strait of Euripus, with its “incomprehensible tides” (Kaisarios Dapontes), we wish you the visitation from Above and the dew of the Holy Spirit in your heart, and we ask you to pray that God may lovingly watch over this Vine. Chrysostomos of Chalkis
