There he came into contact with the Metropolitan of Arta, Porphyrios, and worked as Protosyngellos in the Metropolis. In 1813 he was promoted to Bishop of the formerly flourishing Diocese of Miletoupolis in Asia Minor, and in 1817 he succeeded the late Bishop of Karystos, Neophytos. He was initiated into the Filiki Eteria on February 19, 1820. He initially participated in the Revolution as the head of armed units in the siege of Karystos. In 1827 he participated as representative of Evripos in the 3rd National Assembly of Troezen, having previously taken part in the Assembly of Aegina. After the conclusion of the Assembly's work, from September 1827, he served as a member of the Parliament until its self-dissolution in January 1828. After the arrival of Ioannis Kapodistrias, he was appointed Locum Tenens of the Diocese of the Cyclades, and from 1833 he was Bishop of Phocis (1833), and subsequently, on August 7, 1842, he was transferred to the Diocese of Euboea, which he shepherded until April 11, 1851, when he passed away in peace.
