
His Eminence, Metropolitan of Chalkida Mr. Chrysostomos (civil name Konstantinos Triantafyllou), was born in Chalkida in 1957. He studied at the Rizareios Ecclesiastical School of Athens and the Theological School of the University of Athens, from which he graduated in 1981.
In 1979 he was ordained Secretary of the Holy Metropolis of Chalkida, while he also served as lay Deacon of the Holy Metropolis from that year until his ordination.
He became a monk at the Holy Monastery of Saint George in Arma Fyllon, Chalkida, and was ordained Deacon and Presbyter at the Metropolitan Holy Church of Saint Demetrios of Chalkida by Prokatoche and Gerontas, the blessed Metropolitan of Chalkida Chrysostomos A΄ (Verga) in 1983.
He served as Deacon and General Archieratic Delegate of the Holy Metropolis of Chalkida and undertook missionary activity throughout the local Church.
He particularly distinguished himself in the field of youth ministry through the Catechetical Movement of the Holy Metropolis, his relationship with school students, and especially his care for the young clerics, many of whom he introduced to the priesthood. Moreover, he cultivated with particular attention and genuine ecclesiastical spirit the members of the Holy Exomologiseos.
In 1988 he obtained a Master's degree in Worship, Archaeology, and Arts (specialized subject: Liturgical) from the Theological School of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki.
Metropolitan of Chalkida was enthroned on December 14, 2001, while he was enthroned at the Metropolitan Holy Church on January 12, 2002.
