The founding of the Holy Monastery is attributed to a dream of Elderess Taxiarchia Skoutela, Abbess of the Monastery, following a miraculous intervention by the Virgin Mary for her recovery.

In 1960, Elderess Taxiarchia saw in a dream the location where the Holy Monastery would be built, and this continued for about two years. Thus, after acquiring the property and starting the foundation of the Holy Church on May 25, 1965, a very ancient portable icon of the Virgin Mary holding the Child was found, which now represents the precious treasure of the Holy Monastery. Since then, with the help of Christians, the Holy Monastery was completed with the construction of the Katholikon, which was inaugurated in 1977 by His Eminence the former Metropolitan of Chalkida, Mr. Chrysostomos (Vergis), as well as the Holy Chapels dedicated to Saints Polycarp, George, and Fanourios. Recently, the Katholikon, the Chapels, and the site of the Finding were thoroughly renovated, where a new small Chapel was created, and the Holy Icon of the Theotokos was restored and placed in a specially crafted silver handmade frame in the Monastery’s Temple.

Feast Days: October 1st, last Sunday of May (Anniversary of the Finding of the Holy Icon), 23/2 (Saint Polycarp), 23/4 (Saint George), 26/8 (Saint Fanourios).
